Thank you for volunteering at the 2008 Kraft Nabisco Championship.

Your support is greatly appreciated.

2008 VOLUNTEER FORM

The 2008 Volunteer Experience at the Kraft Nabisco Championship

Thank you for your interest in the Kraft Nabisco Championship. Volunteers are an integral part of our 36-year success. The Kraft Nabisco Championship could not exist without the cadre of volunteers who are responsible for a number of duties both prior to, during and after the Championship.

Today, we have seven active committees, including marshals, scoring and scoring control, admissions, parking and security, LPGA courtesy cars, tournament transportation, community relations, and special projects, comprising more than 900+ persons. These generous volunteers work tirelessly at everything from traffic control and manning the will call booth to interacting with top LPGA players as a marshal or walking scorer.

Please review the committee descriptions and sign-up today. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us via e-mail knc@kraft.com or phone 760.324.4546.

Schedules

Tournament volunteers are expected to work a minimum of four days, although schedules vary depending on the committee. For instance, marshals are required to work for six days (two pro-am days and four tournament days). A typical shift is 6 hours a day for 4-5 days.

Uniforms, Credentials & Gifts

Volunteers are required to make a $75 donation to one of our pre-selected local charities: Boys & Girls Club of Palm Springs, Family YMCA of the Desert, Desert Junior Golf Assoc., Palm Springs Kiwanis Foundation, and United Way of the Desert.

As a volunteer, Kraft gives you:

  • Cutter & Buck logo shirts (2)
  • Cutter & Buck logo windbreaker
  • Pants (men) or cropped pants (ladies)
  • Choice of headwear
  • An array of Kraft products
  • The volunteer appreciation gift
  • Your weeklong credential for tournament admission
  • One additional credential for a guest
  • Meals and snacks, where appropriate

2008 Volunteer Committees

Below you will find a brief description of the volunteer committees and jobs that support the Kraft Nabisco Championship. Not all committees will have availability, so we strongly suggest that you indicate three preferences. On some committees, you may be asked to attend a mandatory training session prior to service.

Community Relations Committee

Includes pre-tournament operation of the Million $ Hole-in-One Contest at two off-site locations. You may be required to lift heavy objects. This is a 10-day event that concludes on Sunday, March 30. With your two complimentary admissions, you and your guest will be free to attend all tournament competition.

LPGA Courtesy Cars Committee

Handles the distribution and collection of courtesy vehicles to/from LPGA professionals and VIPs. Must be 25 years old, have a valid driver's license, and clean driving record. Volunteers are needed both pre-and post- tournament days.

Marshals Committee

Manages spectators on-course, in the grandstands and luxury boxes, and at the practice range to insure fair playing conditions for the LPGA and the safety of the attendees. Marshals enforce golf etiquette by controlling the flow and noise level of spectators and alert the gallery of any potential hazards during play. Marshals are requested to work six full days to include two pro-am days and four days of professional competition.

Parking, Admissions & Security Committee

This committee has a number of sub-committees including:

  • Parking - assist with off-site public parking, Monday-Sunday.
  • Traffic Control - check for appropriate parking passes on-site and direct to appropriate parking lots, Monday-Sunday
  • Will Call - man the Will Call tent located at the off-site public parking lot. Distribute pre-purchased tournament credentials to the appropriate recipient.
  • Admission & Ticket Sales - assist sales staff in selling tickets, badges and programs. Check spectators for appropriate credentials.
  • Security - man critical sites and check for appropriate credentials

Scoring Committee

This committee offers several options:

  • Walking Scorers - one walking scorer is assigned to walk with a specified group for the entire course. The volunteer must record the scores and statistics for the greenside scorer and keep the standard bearer updated. (Thursday-Sunday)
  • Greenside Scorers - responsible for receiving scores from walking scorers and conveying scores to Scoring Central.
  • Scoring Runners - transfer score cards to scoring control
  • Fixed Leaderboards - assist with updating scores
  • Shuttle Drivers - shuttle players between 17th green and 18th tee
  • Support Staff - man tents & trailers, update computer data, etc.

Special Projects Committee

  • Office Support - work with the KNC staff on a variety of projects in the tournament office. Volunteers needed as early as January and may work after the completion of the tournament.
  • Merchandizing - work in the KNC merchandise tent. Work would involve stocking, inventory, sales and sales support. Volunteers may be asked to work before and after the tournament.
  • Exhibitor Support - provide assistance to exhibitors, including Kraft, distributing materials and samples (Tuesday-Sunday)

Transportation Committee

Drive vans and cars between designated hotels and Mission Hills Country Club for pro-am participants. Must be 25 years of age, have a valid driver's license, and a clean driving record. This committee starts on Friday, March 28, and concludes on Thursday, April 3. You are free to enjoy all of the exciting competition during the Championship.
