2008 SENIOR CHAMPIONS CROWNED AT KRAFT NABISCO CHAMPIONSHIP PUTT-OFF

February 25, 2008 | RANCHO MIRAGE, CALIF. - Joyce Moellering and Roy Perry, two seniors wintering in the Coachella Valley, showed that they are a "putt" above the rest at the 2008 Kraft Nabisco Championship Senior Putting finals on Friday, Feb. 22.

Moellering, from Seattle, Wash., and Perry, from Calgary, Alberta, Canada, out-putted more than 160 finalists at the Championship Putt-Off at Mizell Senior Center in Palm Springs. After six weeks of friendly rivalry, the putting competition rolled to a stop with Perry and Moellering being crowned "Top Male and Top Female Putter of the Desert."

The free contest for seniors age 55 and older began on Wednesday, Jan. 9, and traveled through five senior centers, concluding with the Championship Putt-Off. Seniors received complimentary tickets to the 2008 Kraft Nabisco Championship for every putt they sank during the competition. Those sinking five out of five putts then advanced to the Championship Putt-Off. Finalists competed for the putting titles as well as the grand prize of customized Kraft Nabisco Championship golf bags.

The 2008 Kraft Nabisco Championship begins on Monday, March 31, with a practice round for LPGA players and the finals of the Toyota/Kraft Nabisco Championship $1 Million Hole-in-One Contest, which includes the Celebrity Hole-in-One Contest for Charity. Both events are free and open to the public. The tournament will also host its annual Celebrity Pro-Am, set for Tuesday, April 1, and Wednesday, April 2. Championship play, featuring 2007 defending champion Morgan Pressel and more than 100 of the world's top professional women golfers, runs Thursday, April 3, through Sunday, April 6.
