2008 TOURNAMENT NEWS
STARS ALIGNED FOR 2008 KRAFT NABISCO CHAMPIONSHIP CELEBRITY PRO-AM
President Logan will appear alive and well, everyone's favorite coach will take a timeout and the Donald will send his apprentice to the 2008 Kraft Nabisco Championship Celebrity Pro-Am.
The 37th annual Celebrity Pro-Am serves as the lead-in for one of the biggest weeks on the LPGA Tour when the pro-am returns to Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, Calif., on Tuesday, April 1, and Wednesday, April 2.
Fans can expect a fun time on Tuesday, April Fool's Day, with first-ever appearances by Greg Itzin (President Logan on Fox TV's hit show "24"), Craig T. Nelson, star of "Coach" and "The District," and Stefanie Schaeffer, the 2007 winner of Donald Trump's "The Apprentice." Thomas Gibson, star of "Dharma & Greg," will also make his debut this year at the Kraft Nabisco Championship.
Back for his fourth year is Pittsburgh Steeler Ben Roethlisberger along with former Steeler great Franco Harris. The sports world will be well-represented by Carlton Fisk, John Havlicek, Jim Plunkett, Brooks Robinson and NFL Hall of Famer Paul Warfield.
Musical entertainers in the field this year include perennial favorite Alice Cooper and Rudy Gatlin from the Gatlin Brothers. Also joining the stars of the LPGA are television's Kimberlin Brown, Kassie DePaiva, James DePaiva, Patrick Duffy, Bob Goen, Mary Hart, Cheech Marin, Ed Marinaro, NBC newswoman Lisa Myers, Tommy Smothers and Kevin Sorbo.
Graeme Baxter, one of the world's most acclaimed painters of golf landscapes, along with comedian/daredevil "Super" Dave Osborne and celebrity impersonator Scott Record, round out this year's field. In addition, special appearances will be made by football legend Don Meredith and Norm Crosby, the "Master of Malaprop," around the golf course.
The Celebrity Pro-Am will be held on both the Arnold Palmer Course and the Dinah Shore Tournament Course at Mission Hills Country Club. Spectators are encouraged to bring their cameras and video cameras during both days of the Pro-Am. No cameras are allowed once championship play begins on Thursday, April 3.
The 2008 Kraft Nabisco Championship Tournament Week runs Monday, March 31, through Sunday, April 6, at Mission Hills Country Club. This year's tournament will once again feature more than 100 of the elite players in women's professional golf, led by defending champion Morgan Pressel. Still in her teens, Pressel recently teamed with Natalie Gulbis and Cristie Kerr to win the Wendy's 3-Tour Challenge.
